OKR Execution Dashboard in Power BI

OKR (Objectives and Key Results) is a goal-setting methodology in which each strategic Objective is broken down into several measurable Key Results.

What the OKR Execution Dashboard shows

A quarterly OKR review usually means a week of collecting statuses in Excel from every team, debates over "is this at risk or still on track" and figures that are outdated by the day of the meeting. The OKR Execution Dashboard keeps the entire goal structure — from strategic Objective to specific Key Result — in a single tree with automatic status and always up-to-date data.

01

Objectives → OKR → Key Results hierarchy

Three levels of detail in one expandable tree: the strategic goal, the OKR set beneath it and the specific Key Results with numeric plan/actual values. One click and a manager sees exactly what the goal's execution is made of.

02

Status: on track / at risk / off track

The color indicator is calculated automatically from progress and deadlines, not from the owner's subjective judgment. One methodology for all teams — numbers are comparable across departments.

03

Team confidence — separate from status

Each Key Result owner rates the likelihood of reaching the goal every week. If confidence drops while the status is still "on track", it is an early signal for the manager to step in before the numbers confirm it.

04

Trend: accelerating / stable / slowing down

Calculated from the dynamics of several recent updates, not a single snapshot. Shows whether a result is genuinely moving toward the goal or has been "stuck" on the same number for weeks.

05

Score on a 10-point scale

Key Result progress is converted into a score from 0 to 10 using a methodology familiar to teams already working with OKRs (Google style). It lets you compare performance across teams and track the company-wide average — 8.14 out of 10 in the example above.

06

Filters by BSC perspective and strategy

A breakdown by Balanced Scorecard perspective (financial, customer, processes, learning and growth) and by strategic direction shows whether the company is developing in a balanced way — or whether all effort goes into one perspective while the others stagnate.

07

⚠ KR at Risk % — an automatic risk counter

The share of Key Results that need intervention right now, shown as a separate indicator at the top level of the dashboard. Managers don't have to wait until quarter end to learn that a goal won't be met.

Who gets the most value from the OKR Execution Dashboard

The dashboard is designed for companies that have adopted or are adopting OKRs and want to manage goal execution with numbers, not with talk at meetings.

🏢

CEO / Business owner

Instead of collecting statuses from every business line before a strategy meeting — one dashboard with the company's full goal tree. You can see which Objectives are at risk and whether the company is developing evenly across all BSC perspectives.

📋

PMO / Strategy office

A ready consolidated report for the quarterly Strategy Review without manually merging spreadsheets from every team. Update history and the trend for each Key Result are at hand at any moment, not just on meeting day.

🎯

Business line heads / OKR champions

Their own list of Objectives and Key Results with clear accountability for each result. A gap between status and team confidence is visible immediately — so you can act before a goal formally "fails".

Where the dashboard gets its OKR data

OKRs rarely live in a single system — some teams keep them in Excel, others link Key Results to tasks in a tracker. The dashboard brings everything into one model without extra manual consolidation.

📊

Excel and SharePoint

The typical format for team OKRs is a register of Objectives, OKRs and Key Results in Excel or SharePoint Lists. We connect it via Power Query, and data refreshes automatically whenever the file changes.

📝

Power Apps update form

A simple form where each Key Result owner enters actuals, confidence and a short comment every week. It lowers the barrier for teams that never used to update OKRs in spreadsheets at all.

🔗

Planner / Jira / Azure DevOps

For Key Results tied to specific tasks and sprints, we pull progress directly from the tracker — no double manual entry of the same numbers.

🏢

CRM and ERP (Dynamics 365, financial systems)

For Key Results related to revenue, margin or customer metrics, actuals come straight from the CRM or accounting system — no risk of a number being "adjusted" at the last minute.

🔒

Role-based access: each Key Result owner updates only their own metrics, while managers see the full goal tree for their business line or the whole company.

Implementation Four steps to the OKR Execution Dashboard — in 5–7 days It takes a bit longer than other ready-made reports because a single OKR scoring methodology has to be agreed before data is connected.

1

Days 1–2 OKR session We agree on the structure of Objectives and Key Results, the scoring methodology (0–10 scale), and the list of BSC perspectives and strategic directions the dashboard will be filtered by.

2

Day 3 Connecting sources We connect the OKR register (Excel/SharePoint) and, if needed, Planner, DevOps and CRM for teams whose Key Results are tied to tasks or financial metrics.

3

Days 4–5 Status, confidence and trend calculation We build the automatic status logic, the scoring scale and the multi-period trend calculation. We review the first prototype of the goal tree with management.

4

Days 6–7 Launch and KR owner training We deploy the dashboard to Power BI Service and show Key Result owners how to update actuals and confidence every week. 30 days of support after launch included.

Answers to common questions

How is execution status different from team confidence?
Status (on track / at risk / off track) is an objective calculation based on progress and deadlines. Confidence is the Key Result owner's subjective assessment of how likely the goal is to be reached. When the two diverge, it is a signal earlier than any formula: the team sees a problem the numbers haven't shown yet.
How is the score calculated (for example, 8.14 out of 10)?
The progress of each Key Result (0–100%) is converted into a score on a 0–10 scale, using a methodology familiar to teams already working with OKRs. The company average is the mean across all active Key Results for the current period. Specific thresholds (for example, what counts as a "good" result) are agreed for your company during the OKR session.
What is "KR at Risk %" and how is it calculated?
The share of Key Results with an "at risk" or "off track" status out of all active Key Results. It is shown as a separate tile at the top level, so a manager sees the scale of the problem immediately without expanding the whole goal tree.
Can actuals be updated manually every week if we don't track OKRs in a system?
Yes, this is the most common scenario. We set up a simple Power Apps form: once a week each Key Result owner enters actuals, confidence and a short comment — it takes a few minutes. The dashboard refreshes automatically after every submission.
Which Power BI license is required?
To view the dashboard — Power BI Pro (~$10/user/month) for everyone who opens Power BI Service. The Power Apps update form is usually covered by standard Microsoft 365 licenses. If you already have Microsoft 365 E3/E5, some licenses may be included — we'll check at the first consultation.
